The Myth of Hierarchies

Hierarchies aren't bad. They're just poorly used or misunderstood. 

I recently published a Youtube Short about The Myth of Wolf Hierarchies.

If you haven't heard the news before, the origins of wolf hierarchies and "alpha" males or females came from a flawed/incomplete study of wolves in captivity.

Essentially, wolf packs operate just like human families. The "alphas" are simply parents. The betas are the children. And the "omega" is typically the black sheep of the family.

There's also something called the "sigma," typically a member of the family that just goes rogue but is entirely self-sufficient (and prefers it). 

But this shows just how scientific studies can sometimes produce incorrect conclusions, get adopted by the masses, but never really checked again to determine if they are true.

It's a case of scientism (the belief that science has all the answers) over the process of science itself (curious inquiry).

Let's dive into how this applied to hierarchies throughout history, and even teams, communities, and companies in modern times.
